City breaks in Switzerland Short stays and weekend breaks around the Swiss lakes & mountains
Taking a city break holiday in Switzerland has never been so popular with so much on offer for everyone no matter what age. From gentle walks, mountain biking, hiking and mountain climbing to a full range of watersports.
There are over 50 lakes greater than 1 km² throughout Switzerland with most of them in the mountain valleys. Collecting the glacial and snow melt, the Swiss lakes may not be the warmest, but they are certainly crystal clear and pristine.

Our view on city breaks in Switzerland
The Swiss lakes are great to visit any time of year. If you don't like crowds and queues then avoid the peak summer months and try a spring or early Autumn holiday. Or, if visiting very late on in the year around December, you could combine a visit to the lakes with a few days skiing in one of the nearby ski resorts.
