Marsala sits on the Capo Boeo on the west coast of Sicily in the Trapani province opposite the Egadi Islands. The town is famous for its sweet white fortified wine which is also called Marsala and has been produced in the area since the 18th century.

The town is steeped in history from the days of the Carthaginians, through to when it became under Arab control to more recent times as the landing place of Garibaldi in 1860 that set the course for Italy's unification

The centre piece of this historic town is Piazza della Repubblica in front of the 17th century Cathedral of San Tomas. Here, you will find many cafes and wine bars, called enoteche, which are the perfect setting for sampling the local Marsala.
